The carriageway was launched by the Ministry of Public Works (Highway Administration), Kuwait in coordination with Traffic Department of Ministry of Interior and the Project Management Team of URS/Scott Wilson and Dar Mazen Al-Sane Engineering Consultants (DMSEC).

It is worth noting that the project is composed of three interchanges. The other two interchanges were completed earlier. The first interchange is between Road 80 and the Sixth Ring Road and was launched last May 2012. The second interchange is in place of the old junction below Road 80 Bridge linking Road 80 with Marzouq Al-Mote’b Street in Jahra. This was launched last July 2012. The old junction with traffic signals was transformed to a wide roundabout along with new access roads in four directions.
